Job Summary

The Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) is seeking qualified candidates for our Small Business Advisor team.

As a Small Business Advisor Intern, you would promote North Carolina for business; Educate people and companies on compliance requirements (based on NC legislature/law) and how to start a business in NC.

The ideal candidate is interested in government affairs, business, economics, and/or customer service/hospitality industry. This is an exciting opportunity for a student or recent graduate looking to contribute to the growth of North Carolina’s economy, all the while gaining resume-building experience.

Roles & Responsibilities

As EDPNC’s Small Business Advisor Intern, you will be responsible for:
• Learning the basics of an online database.
• Learning the elements and importance of data for reporting.
• Speaking with clients in a professional manner.
• Researching key databases.
• Developing relationships with partners and scheduling them to present new information.
• Researching marketing events, dates, and costs for our target markets.

Skills & Qualifications

Possess strong decision making and problem-solving skills

Team player

Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness

Ability to be self-directed, prioritize responsibilities, seek input, and perform multiple tasks with varying deadlines

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite strongly preferred

Ability to speak Spanish strongly preferred
