Manufacturing (MFG) Day is a national event, held on the first Friday in October, celebrating those who produce goods and services in America. It is an initiative of The Manufacturing Institute, with the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association as a founding partner. The purpose of MFG Day events across the nation is to highlight the reality of modern manufacturing careers by encouraging thousands of companies and educational institutions around the nation to connect and by opening their doors to students, parents, teachers and community leaders.
Companies across the nation are hosting their own MFG Day events.
To reinforce the manufacturing sector in our state, the EDPNC is encouraging all manufacturers to register in the Manufactured in NC database, maintained by NC State University. This is a free listing of manufacturers located in North Carolina. With all the supply chain issues that companies experienced during the pandemic, many of them are looking for domestic, and especially North Carolina, suppliers. Also, it is useful as a resource for in-state suppliers when/if a company has a tough time finding ingredients, parts or components. If you are a manufacturer and busy, one of EDPNC Small Business Advisors can assist with getting you into the database, click here. Please urge your local manufacturers to register.
