Introduction to NAFTA & 3 new Free Trade Agreements Training (Colombia, Panama, Korea)
This program covers the multiple facets of full compliance with all NAFTA regulations, including where to go and what to look for in determining if your products qualify for the benefits of NAFTA. Upon completion of the program, participants will have a 16 point NAFTA checklist to guide them through full compliance on every NAFTA shipment, enabling them to avoid unnecessary NAFTA penalties. In some cases, goods have low or zero duty already, and need not expose the company to potential NAFTA violations or even necessitate the completion of a NAFTA certificate. The program will also include an overview of the 3 new Free Trade Agreements (Panama, S. Korea, and Colombia).
Topics covered will include: Specific Rules of Origin and how to determine if when a product qualifies; NAFTA Certificates of Origin and common errors, when this should/ shouldn’t be completed; an overview of the 3 new Free Trade Agreements (Colombia, Panama, S. Korea); understanding preference criteria A-F and how to determine which one your goods qualify for; what the rules are for producer vs. exporter; supporting documentation, how to obtain them, and when a manufacturer’s affidavit should be used; formulas for determining regional value content or a change in tariff classification; De Minimis – what it means and why is it important; fungible goods and materials; as well as other FTA agreements and where they can be found.
