Duotech Services, LLC, an engineering company specializing in the maintenance and repair of legacy defense equipment, will invest $6.5 million to expand its current operations in Franklin, North Carolina. The project will create 95 jobs in Macon County.

Duotech Services, LLC, has been operating in Franklin since 1986, repairing obsolete equipment that Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) can no longer support. The company develops, designs, engineers and reverse engineers a variety of electronic and electromechanical equipment for F-16s, C-130 Hercules, and more, for a lower cost and shorter turnaround time. The company provides services for the U.S. Government and defense companies in almost 40 countries worldwide.

“North Carolina has a significant presence in the aerospace, aviation and defense industries, which is supported by our highly skilled workforce including more than 20,000 servicepeople re-entering the state’s talent pool each year,” said Christopher Chung, CEO of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina. “Companies like Duotech not only help the state’s economy but help North Carolina continue to support our armed forces.”

Duotech is one of more than 450 aerospace manufacturing suppliers in North Carolina providing goods and services to more than 280 aerospace companies in state, such as Marshall USA, HondaJet and Boom Supersonic. Defense industry companies in the state, such as Collins Aerospace and GE Aviation, maintain the technological advantage of our armed forces through artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and robotics. North Carolina also has a long-established military presence with more than seven military installations and outposts, an Army Research office, as well as DoD, Army, and Air Force Innovation Offices.

The EDPNC partnered with the North Carolina Department of Commerce on this project, offering support during the company’s decision-making and site selection process.

Although wages will vary depending on the position, the average salary for Duotech’s new positions will be $91,271, more than Macon County’s average wage of $42,034.

The Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina would like to recognize the North Carolina Department of Commerce as well as other key partners involved in this project, including the North Carolina General Assembly, the North Carolina Community College System, Commerce’s Division of Workforce Solutions, Macon County, the Town of Franklin, the Mountain West Partnership, and the Macon County Economic Development Commission.
