Jewelers Mutual® Group Selects Wake County for $5.8 million Expansion

Jewelers Mutual® Group, a leading insurer for jewelry and jewelry businesses, will invest $5.8 million for a new office in Wake County. The project will be in Raleigh and will create 200 jobs for technical talent to provide data-driven solutions for its customers.

“North Carolina’s world-class education systems, workforce development programs and a 192,000-person strong tech workforce make North Carolina the ideal location for Jewelers Mutual to open its new office,” said Christopher Chung, CEO of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC). “North Carolina’s tech talent is one of the fastest growing in the nation and we look forward to providing companies like Jewelers Mutual with the workforce they need.”

Founded in 1913, Jewelers Mutual® Group is a jewelry and jewelry industry-dedicated insurance company, offering retail, repair, custom design, jewelry appraising, wholesale and manufacturing coverage for jewelry businesses. Jewelers Mutual also provides coverage for personal​ jewelry for residents in all 50 states and Canada through independent agents that offer local service to its commercial jeweler policyholders.

Although wages will vary depending on the position, the average salary for Jewelers Mutual’s new positions will be $169,592, which is more than Wake County’s average wage of $74,866.

The EDPNC partnered with the North Carolina Department of Commerce on this project, offering support during the company’s decision-making process, as well as guiding the company through incentives.

Commerce’s Division of Workforce Solutions, Wake County, the City of Raleigh and Wake County Economic Development, a program of the Raleigh Chamber.
