Hans Kissle Company, a fresh foods manufacturer, announced it will build its new manufacturing facility in Gaston County, investing $42.2 million and creating 219 jobs. The facility will be located at the Apple Creek Corporate Center in Gastonia, North Carolina.

“North Carolina is a great place for a company like Hans Kissle to grow and expand,” said Christopher Chung, CEO of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina. “Our state has the third largest food and beverage industry in the United States with over 65,000 workers supporting this growing industry, and we are proud Hans Kissle chose North Carolina.”

Hans Kissle first began as a small business making foods for a local grocery chain in Massachusetts in 1984, and today has a retail footprint across the United States. The addition of this new facility and subsequent expansion into the Southeast will allow Hans Kissle to distribute its over 700 ready-to-eat and seasonal fresh food items to more customers. The company was drawn to North Carolina for its talented workforce, training possibilities, as well as its thriving agriculture and variety of crops grown throughout the year. The EDPNC helped Hans Kissle connect with local governments during the site selection process.

The Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina would like to recognize the N.C. Department of Commerce as well as other principal partners involved in this project, including the N.C. General Assembly, the N.C. Department of Agriculture, the N.C. Community College System, the N.C. Food Innovation Lab, Gaston County and the Gaston County Economic Development Commission, among other state and local partners
