Reckitt, a global leader in health, hygiene and nutrition, will invest $145.59 million in a new manufacturing facility in Wilson, North Carolina, creating 289 new jobs in Wilson County. This new facility will serve as a U.S. regional manufacturing center for Reckitt.
“Our highly skilled workforce, which includes the largest manufacturing workforce in the Southeast, and workforce development programs attract companies, such as Reckitt, who are looking for skill and innovation,” said Christopher Chung, CEO of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC). “Wilson County’s life science ecosystem and existing resources are also major attractors and provide a strong foundation for life science manufacturing companies to grow. We are proud to be a part of Reckitt’s continued success.”
For more than 200 years, Reckitt has been the company behind some of the world’s most recognizable and trusted consumer brands, including Airborne®, Biofreeze®, Finish®, Lysol®, Mucinex®, and more. These brands have been used by consumers for generations and are familiar staples in households around the world. Every day, around 30 million Reckitt products are purchased globally. The company’s new Wilson project will allow the company to expand its production capacity and localize Mucinex production. In addition to management and administrative functions, the Wilson facility is expected to include quality assurance and quality control, engineering, and general manufacturing roles.
Reckitt joins 218 British companies in the state currently employing more than 43,000 North Carolinians, such as GSK, Marshall Aerospace, and AstraZeneca.
