About the Presenter

Ernie Pearson has been involved in economic development since 1989, when he served as Assistant Secretary for Economic Development for the North Carolina Department of Commerce. Upon leaving that department in 1993, he formed the first economic development law practice in this state. Later, in 2007, he formed Sanford Holshouser Economic Development Consulting, LLC, which is a non-lawyer consulting group. He has handled many local government incentive projects during his career. This included one of the first major incentive projects in which a local government was involved in 1993, and in which he represented a local government. His practice is focused on representing companies seeking sites for new facilities and representing local governments in recruiting those companies. He has worked on a range of projects in many industry sectors ranging from a few million dollars to over two billion dollars in capital investments. Ernie’s practice has been recognized as one of the top economic development law practices in the country by Best Lawyers in America. Also, his law firm has been recognized by one of the best in economic development in the southeast by Southern Business and Development magazine.
