Natron Energy, Inc.

Natron Energy, Inc., the only commercial manufacturer of sodium-ion batteries in the U.S., announced it will create more than 1,000 new jobs and invest $1.4 billion to establish a sodium-ion battery giga-factory at the Kingsboro CSX Select Megasite in Edgecombe County. Natron will receive close to $30 million from the North Carolina Megasite Readiness Program for onsite preparation of the Kingsboro Megasite. Natron’s sodium-ion battery became the first in the world to receive a UL 1973 listing, and the batteries produced at their new facility will be used in the data center, forklift, and electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging markets.

Boviet Solar

In April, Boviet Solar, a Vietnamese Tier 1 solar technology company that specializes in the production of photovoltaic (PV) solar modules and solar project developments, announced Pitt County as the location for its first U.S.-based solar panel manufacturing facility. The company will invest $294 million in the new facility, creating 908 new jobs.

Morinaga America Foods, Inc.

Morinaga America Foods, Inc., a leading international confectionary company headquartered in Japan, announced an expansion of its manufacturing facility in Mebane, investing $136 million and creating 204 new jobs.

Morinaga, founded in 1899 in Tokyo, produces many kinds of candy such as milk caramels, chocolates, cookies and frozen foods. Their expansion will further Morinaga’s manufacturing capacity for HI-CHEW, a long-standing best-selling candy in Asia and the United States.
